Abstract

884,363. Transistor circuits. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. March 13, 1958 [March 20, 1957], No. 9064/57. Class 40(6). In a two state transistor circuit comprising a transistor which has a low impedance in a first, unstable state of the circuit and a high impedance during a second state and having a storage device connected to an electrode thereof for determining the duration of the unstable state, variations in said duration due to variations with temperature of the leakage current to said electrode are reduced by connecting the load impedance of the electrode to a tap of a potentiometer having a temperaturue dependent arm. The Figure shows a mono-stable flip-flop circuit in which transistor Tl is non-conducting in the stable state and T2 non-conducting in the unstable state. Variations of temperature cause variations in the leakage current of transistor T1 during the stable state and this would normally vary the voltage across capacitor C1 and thus the duration of the unstable state of the circuit. To compensate for this the upper end of load resistor R1 is connected to a potentiometer TR1, R6 the upper arm of one which is temperature sensitive so that the collector potential of transistor T1, remains constant. Variations in sensitivity of the circuit with the variations in temperature may be compensated by means of a further temperature dependent resistor TR2. It is stated that the invention is also applicable to free running multi-state circuits.
