884,356. Electron multipliers. HARSHAW CHEMICAL CO. Aug. 22, 1960 [Aug. 31, 1959], No. 28936/60. Class 39(1) [Also in Group XL(b)] A photomultiplier tube 5 coupled to a scintillation crystal 9 is enclosed in a light shielding and electrical shielding housing 1 and a resilient ring 4, eg of sponge rubber, is provided within the housing to press the tube against the glass window 14. The housing 1 may consist of high permeability magnetic alloy material. An optical coupling, e.g. silicone, grease coating 8 is disposed between the end window 7 of the photomultiplier tube and the glass window 14.
