Abstract

A preservative food-wrapping contains calcium sorbate. Thus, calcium sorbate may be incorporated in paper at any stage of manufacture or paper may be soaked, dusted with the salt, rolled and dried. Alternatively paper, or metal or plastic foils may be soaked in or sprayed with a solution of a soluble calcium salt, e.g. acetate or chloride, and then in a solution of a soluble sorbate, e.g. sodium sorbate.
