Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of the formula <FORM:0884098/IV (b)/1> in which R is hydrogen or a straight or branched chain hydrocarbon residue having from 1-4 carbon atoms, R1 is an alkyl residue, Y an oxygen or sulphur atom, n the number 3 or 4 and m the number 0 or 1, and acid addition salts thereof and processes for the preparation thereof in which (a) a 2-halogenomethyl-1,4-benzdioxane of the formula <FORM:0884098/IV (b)/2> in which X is chlorine or bromine, is condensed with a primary amine of the formula H2N-(CH2)n-Y-R at temperatures above 70 DEG C. and the resulting compound, if desired, reacted with an acid to form an acid addition salt thereof, (b) a 2-aminomethyl-1,4-benzdioxane of the formula <FORM:0884098/IV (b)/3> is condensed with a halide of the formula Hal-(CH2)n-Y-R in which Hal is a chlorine, bromine or iodine atom, (c) a compound of the formula <FORM:0884098/IV (b)/4> in which R11 represents an alkali metal atom, is reacted with a molar quantity of an alkyl halide Hal-R in which R has the above meaning except hydrogen and Hal is a chlorine, bromine or iodine atom, (d) a compound of the formula <FORM:0884098/IV (b)/5> is reacted with an alkali metal compound of the formula Me-Y-R in which Me is an alkali metal atom, and the resultant compound, if desired, is reacted with an acid to form an acid addition salt thereof and (e) a compound of the formula <FORM:0884098/IV (b)/6> in which R11 represents a hydrogen atom, is alkylated, the resultant compound being, if desired, converted into an acid addition salt. Detailed examples are given.
