Abstract
883,993. Etching. COSSOR Ltd., A. C. Aug. 25, 1959 [Sept. 3, 1958], No. 28349/58. Class 100(2) In a machine in which a workpiece is moved from one station at which a manufacturing operation is performed on it to another such station, apparatus for treating a surface of a workpiece with a liquid comprises a vessel for containing liquid, provided with an opening to serve as an overflow, the edge of the opening having a lowest part which is horizontal and provided along its length with a lip, a receiver for collecting liquid flowing over the lip, means for transferring liquid from the receiver to the vessel, and means for moving a workpiece to a position in which liquid flowing from the lip will pass over a surface of the workpiece before entering the receiver. The workpiece 23, Figs. I and 2, may be a laminated board coated with copper foil and partly covered with etching resist, for forming printed circuits. Liquid from the receiver 12 is delivered by means of a pipe 14 and pump 15 to a duct 16 and thence to form funnel-shaped containers 18. Each container is formed with a lip 21 over which the liquid flows, then flowing over a workpiece supported by a cover 26 running on a rail 24 past the containers in turn. The liquid is heated by elements 22.
