883,390. Dispensing liquefied gas. BRITISH OXYGEN CO. Ltd. Aug. 16, 1960 [Aug. 20, 1959], No. 28553/59. Classes 8(2) and 102(2). In a liquefied gas e.g., oxygen dispensing apparatus comprising an insulated container 11 having a delivery pipe 16 extending from near the container bottom and through the top thereof and up which liquid oxygen is forced by pressure in the gas space 29 generated by a pressure buil-up circuit comprising a liquid feed line 18 branding from the delivery pipe 16 a vapourizing coil 25 located below the container bottom and an automatic pressure-opening valve 27 and a non-return valve 28 in a vapour feed line 26, the main flow of liquid oxygen is through a jacket 19 surrounding the liquid feed line 18 and to one end of which liquid oxygen is supplied from pipe 16 through a duct 20 and a valve 21 providing a pressure drop and from the other end of which jacket 19 liquid oxygen is supplied to a service connection e.g., a revaporizing coil 22. The liquid oxygen in the jacket 19 serves to keep cool the liquid in line 18 sufficient to prevent formation of vapour locks. therein. In operation and as soon as automatic valve 27 opens, the liquid oxygen withdrawal pipes and the liquid feed pipe acts as a syphon. The valve 21 comprises a ball held on a square seating by a piston-like weight.
