Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of the general formula <FORM:0883219/IV (b)/1> (wherein R and R1 represent C1-5 alkyl groups and R11 a hydrogen atom or a methyl group), and the preparation thereof by the processes of the examples, which may be summarized as follows: (a) (when R = R1 and R11 = H) reacting a 1,2-di-R-hydrazine with potassium cyanate to form a di-R-semicarbazide, reacting this with ethyl chlorocarbonate to form its ethoxycarbonyl derivative and cyclizing this with sodium alkoxide; (b) (when R and R1 are different and R11 = H) carrying out process (a) with a mono-R-substituted hydrazine and methylating the product to introduce R1; (c) (when R11 = CH3) alkylating the product of (a) or (b). The products are useful as anticonvulsants.
