Abstract

The invention comprises: (a) compounds of the general formula <FORM:0882891/IV (b)/1> (wherein R1 represents a hydrogen atom or a hydroxy group, R2 a saturated or unsaturated alkyl group of 1-5 carbon atoms or a phenyl group, R3 a hydrogen atom and Z a group -OR4 or -SR4 where R4 represents an aryl group optionally substituted by a lower (C1-3) alkyl, hydroxy or lower alkoxy group), and their acid addition salts; (b) the preparation of compounds (a) by (i) reacting a compound of the general formula <FORM:0882891/IV (b)/2> with a compound HZ, or (ii) reacting a compound of the general formula <FORM:0882891/IV (b)/3> with a propylene oxide of the general formula <FORM:0882891/IV (b)/4> or with a compound of the general formula <FORM:0882891/IV (b)/5> (wherein Hal represents a halogen atom); and (c) the combination of process (i) with the preparation of the starting material by reacting the starting material of process (ii) with a compound of the general formula <FORM:0882891/IV (b)/6> The products are useful as analgesics and spasmolytics (see Group VI).ALSO:As analgesic or spasmolytic agents may be employed compounds of the general formula <FORM:0882891/VI/1> (wherein R1 represents a hydrogen atom or an hydroxy group, R4 a saturated or unsaturated alkyl group of 1-5 carbon atoms or a phenyl group, R3 a hydrogen atom and Z a group -OR4 or -SR4, where R4 represents an aryl group optionally substituted by a lower (C1-3) alkyl, hydroxy or lower alkoxy group) or their acid addition salts. They may be presented in the form of tablets, capsules, solutions (including injectable solutions in pyrogen-free water or a parenterally acceptable oil), suspensions, syrups, elixirs or suppositories.
