A kettle, saucepan, frying pan or the like has one or more strips 15 of aluminium secured to its base, the strip or strips serving as a means for distributing heat over the said base. The strips are welded to the kettle base at their crests 16, and a flange 17 on the kettle is welded to three or more of the troughs 19 of the strips. The strips may be of sinuous or helical form and be brazed or soldered to the kettle base.
