A semi-trailer body has pivoted to it at 2 a towing arm 3, and at 22 arms 21 carrying road wheels 20, the arms being interconnected by tie rods 8 and 23 to levers 10 pivoted at 11 to the body. Rotation of the levers 10 by the jack 14 raises the semitrailer from the ground to a loading position as shown or to an intermediate towing position where it is held by the strut 27 engaging the ratchet teeth 28. The connection between the tie rod 8 and the link 10 preferably includes a spring-loaded lost motion connection. Specification 751,460 is referred to.
