881,960. Dental syringes. AMALGAMATED DENTAL CO. Ltd. Jan. 21, 1960 [Nov. 4, 1958], No. 35397/58. Class 81 (2). [Also in Group XI] In a dental handpiece incorporating separate passageways for the flow of air and water to a turbine head the handpiece casing 1 includes an electric heating unit 10 designed only to heat the water. Leads 8, 9 to the heater unit, and tube 7 for the water enters the handset through sleeve 4, the tube 7 being connected to one end of the heater water inlet 17, the other end of the tube 17 being connected to a further length of tube 7 which feeds the water to a connecting unit 6 to which the turbine may be connected. The air stream, usually laden with oil, enters the handpiece through the unfilled space in inlet 4 and passes coaxially round the outside of the heater unit 10 and through a coaxial passage in the casing section 5 to the head 6. In a modification the air stream after passing round the unit 10, Fig. 8, which is supported by perforated washers 20, passes into a tube 34 in the head end of the heating unit cavity to the turbo-head.
