Abstract

881,609. Xerographic toner dispeners. RANK-XEROX Ltd. (Haloid Co.) May 3, 1960, No. 15525/60. Class 98(2). A xerographic toner dispenser includes a rotatable cylindrical container mounted with its axis vertical above a fixed platform and wiper means mounted for oscillatory movement placed between the platform and the lower end of the container to displace the toner from the platform. In the xerographic machine described the xerographic plate comprises a photo conductive layer on a drum which is rotated past a charging station, an exposure station, a development station in which the toner is mixed with the carrier powder and transferred by a belt and a shoot to the drum, to a point where the image is transferred to a continuously fed web of film and is subsequently fixed by resin solvent vapour. The powder is then removed from the drum before the process is repeated. The xerographic powder dispenser is fixed to the machine and comprises a container 63 for the powder which is placed vertically in a rotatable support 62 with its open end adjacent a fixed dispensing platform 54. Between the platform 54 and the container 63 two wiper blades 60 are movably placed. These blades are fixed to a block 56 a pin 61 on which extends through a slot 78 on an arm 77 so that when the arm is oscillated about a screw 76 by a rotating eccentric 20, 85, the blades 60 oscillate and move the powder off the platform 56 and through a supply aperture 52. Simultaneously an oscillating tooth 79 on the arm 77 rotates a ratchet wheel 70 on the support 62 so that the container 63 is rotated. A rod 86 is fixed to platform 54 and extends into the container so that it loosens the powder therein as the container rotates. The eccentric 20 is rotated by a motor (which is controlled by a timer) a control switch of which is operated intermittently by a cam on the before mentioned drum.
