Abstract

880,922. Heating microscope slides by electrical resistances. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Feb. 24, 1959 [Feb. 24, 1958; Dec. 2, 1958], Nos. 5879/58 and 38817/58. Class 39(3) [Also in Group XX] A device for carrying a slide bearing a specimen for viewing in a microscope comprises a base member for placing in the microscope which is adapted to receive the slide and has incorporated with it an electric heating element. In the device shown a base 1 is provided with a recess 3 having an aperture 4. A heating coil 20 inlaid in an asbestos plate 18 is fitted over the base 1 so that electrical contacts 21 engage contacts 22. A rheostat may be provided to control the temperature. A masking plate may be provided between the slide and the plate 18. In the Provisional Specifications the slide itself may have the heating means built into or incorporated with it.
