Abstract
880,447. Caps for thermionic valves. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Feb. 22, 1960 [Feb. 23, 1959], No. 6176/59. Class 38 (1). A contact element 1 to be sealed across an aperture in a glass wall for closing the aperture whilst enabling electrical connection to be made between conducting members on opposite sides of the wall, the element being provided with coupling means enabling at least one of the conductors to be detachably secured thereto, is formed of sheet metal comprising an end part 2 carrying the coupling means, an intermediate part 4 formed as one or more annular steps and a skirt part 3 which can be sealed around its periphery to the edge of the aperture. A mount 7 for a target 8 of a monoscope is attached to the element 1 by a screw 9 screwing into a captive nut 6 within the closed cylindrical end part 2. A key 14 on the part 4 cooperates with a recess 15 in the mount locates the target about the axis of the contact element.
