Abstract
879,834. lon-exchange. PERMUTIT CO. Ltd. July 30, 1959 [Aug. 8, 1958], No. 25540/58. Class 46. In a pulsating ion-exchange bed process in which a pulp, e.g. a uranium or gold pulp, is exchanged with a bed of resin beads, the pulp is introduced through pipe 9 into the bed at such a rate that the resin introduced at pipe 12, when it is fully loaded with exchanged ions from the pulp, will not pass through the interface in the conical part of the vessel 25 and will be withdrawn by collecting device 14, but the pulp will pass through the interface to be discharged at pipe 18. The pulsating effect is produced by magnetically controlled supplies of compressed air into space 19. Other methods of introducing the pulp are described in Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown).
