Abstract

<PICT:0877993/III/1> <PICT:0877993/III/2> <PICT:0877993/III/3> <PICT:0877993/III/4> <PICT:0877993/III/5> <PICT:0877993/III/6> <PICT:0877993/III/7> <PICT:0877993/III/8> In a pan greasing machine, oil or grease is delivered to and sprayed by centrifugal force from two sets of rotating discs the axes of rotation of each set being parallel to one another, the two planes in which these sets of axes lie being neither horizontal nor vertical nor in the same plane nor in parallel planes. Pans are carried from the loading station 13 to the unloading table 14 by advancing mechanism 16 including a detachable template 17 which is reciprocated over a greasing station 18 in unison with the pans. The sets of discs project the grease through the apertures in the template 17 into the baking pans, a number of templates 17 being provided for use with tins of different sizes and shapes. Pan pushing member 61 and bars 55, 56, 57, 58 are connected to a transverse bar 51 with flanges which rest on nylon runners secured to the main frame. Bar 51 is driven through a member 50 engaged by blocks 47 carried on driven chains 42. Bars 55, 56, 57 58 are releasably secured to a frame 63, having sleeves 68 which slide on guide rods 71, in which the template 17 is positioned by pins 72. A second pan pusher member 73 is secured to frame 63 by a latching rod. The discharge end of frame 63 is connected by bars 84 to a member similar to bar 51 and carries a pan pushing member 86 and bumpers 91. Disposed respectively intermediate the loading station 13 and greasing station 18 and intermediate greasing station 18 and draining station 27 and carried on longitudinal guide members 92 are stops 98, 100 which allow pans to pass but prevent their being pulled back. The grease from the discs (see Group XXIX) is projected upwardly through an opening 144 formed between plates 145, 146 which is closed by flaps 147, 148 on the forward movement of the template 17 if a strap of pans is in position. Flaps 147, 148 comprise flat panels 152, 158 supported on tracks 153 and flap 148 has a wall 156 at its trailing edge with bumpers, e.g. plastic sleeves 162, which engage the end wall 161 of flap 147. Spaced fingers 164 pivoted to panel 152 are connected by a rod 169 and engage arms 170 mounted on a rod 171 carried in blocks 172, 173 beneath the leading edge 64 of frame 63. Each arm 170 has a face 174 which engages a face 167 of finger 164 when rod 171 is in its operating position to which it is urged by spring 176. One side member of frame 63 is pivoted to a bar 181 whose ends are connected to transverse rods 171, 186. Rod 186 slides in bushes 187 in sleeve 188 and its inner end carries a catch 190 urged upwardly by a leaf spring 191 to engage a latching member 193 pivoted to a spring biassed bar 195. A trip member 200 on the end of bar 195 is adjacent member 73 and the end 201 of rod 186 engages a roller 202 on the side of the machine frame. A bent bar 205 pivoted beneath the side member 66 of frame 63 comprises push arm 206, carrying a plastic bumper 207 which engages wall 161 to move flap 147 and actuating arm 208 which engages an adjustable abutment member 212. In operation, an inverted strap of pans is placed on platform 13 between rails 92 and switches are actuated to start the main drive motor, pump motor and disc drive motors. Pusher member 61 pushes the pans under stops 98 to the greasing station and is then retracted, template frame 63 moving with it so that pan pusher member 73 passes beneath the pans and trip member 200 is depressed to shift cross rod 171 into operative position so that shutters 147, 148 are effective to prevent any grease from being sprayed upwards. The frame 63 is then moved towards the discharge station, member 73 engaging the pans so that their cavities are in alignment with the template openings. As the template reaches opening 144, it engages flap 148 to push it forward to allow grease to be sprayed into the pans and flap 147 is engaged by the rear of the template to close it over the opening. At the end of its movement, the template 17 pushes the pans under stops 100 where they are held dripping on to cover plate 145 while the frame 63 is retracted returning flaps 147, 148 to their original position while pan pusher 86 passes under the pans. During the next cycle, pusher 86 pushes the pans on to unloading table 14.
