Abstract
Surfaces of aluminium, e.g. of cooking utensils or structural or decorative metalwork, are anodised, then coated with an organopolysiloxane fluid so as to saturate the still-absorbent anodic coating therewith. The silicone may be applied as a solution in an organic solvent by spraying, flowing or wiping. The organo-groups in the silicone may be methyl, ethyl, phenyl, alkyl, or vinyl and may be substituted, e.g. by chlorine. The anodised surface may be dyed before the coating is applied.
