877,735. Forming flanges on thermoplastic pipes. SHIBAURA KYODO KOGYO KABUSHIKI KAISHA. Feb. 9, 1959 [Feb. 10, 1958 ; Sept. 13, 1958], No. 4467/59. Class 87(2). [Also in Group XXVIII] In a method of forming a coupling flange 2 on one end of a thermoplastic pipe 1, the end of the pipe is heated to the softening temperature and is then subjected to a press moulding in moulding dies. The female die 9 has a cup-shaped opening 11 the bottom of which communicates with a central opening 14 and the male die 13 has a projection 13a which engages the bore of the pipe 1 and prevents plastic material from flowing therein when moulding takes place.
