Abstract
877,712. Subaqueous buildings, protecting. SOC. GRENOBLOlSE D'ETUDES ET D'APPLICATIONS HYDRAULIQUES SOGREAH. Dec. 30, 1959 [Jan. 20, 1959], No. 44288/59. Class 68(2). A facing block 10 for sea defence works has a cavity 11 opening on to one face, and a passageway 13 extending between that face and the opposite face. In a modification (Fig. 3) the passageway is a continuation of the cavity and the block has a recess in the opposite face. In a second modification (Fig. 4) the cavity and the passageway blend to form a single conical aperture. The blocks have plane sides and the external plan shape may be any regular figure from a triangle to a circle. In use (Fig. 5) the blocks are used to surface a rock mound 12 and are secured by bituminous cement, for example, which is forced into the cavities between the corners of the blocks.
