Abstract

877,376. Soil-compacting apparatus. WACKER, H., and WACKER, P. May 26,1960 [May 30, 1959], No. 18636/60. Class 68(1). [Also in Groups X and XXIII] In a tamping tool a motordriven crank shaft 4a is connected to a cross beam 4 extending through opposed slots 1a in the housing 1 of the tool. The beam 4 either bears directly or indirectly through a ring 8 slidable about the housing 1 on the upper ends of springs 5, that are under com- .pression and bear at the lower end directly or indirectly through a ring 9 on a beam 3 extending through further opposed slots 1a in the housing 1. At the centre of the beam 3 is secured a shank 2 extending down through and out of the lower end of the housing to a tamping plate 2a to which it is coupled. The beam 3 also bears directly or indirectly through a ring 9a slidable about the housing on further springs 6, which are under compression and bear on a ring 10 fixedly secured to the housing 1. Guide rods 4b extend between the beams 4, 3, and 10 to control the position of the springs.
