876,907. Mine-arches. BAYERISCHE BERGHUTTEN-UND SALZWERKE AG. July 9, 1959 [July 9, 1958], No. 23555/59. Drawings to Specification. Class 20(2) A mine arch is prestressed against the rock at two or more spaced points and then secured in position. In one modification the arch is raised by hydraulic devices acting on the two lower ends or feet of the arch and wedges are then driven under the feet. In another modification hydraulic cylinders act on the overlapping ends of the arch parts to expand the arch against the rock the parts then being clamped together. A similar method is used for an arch having parts which abut instead of overlapping.
