Abstract

876,667. Reinforced concrete. WRIGHT (LEEDS) Ltd., V. Jan. 13, 1958 [Jan. 29, 1957], No. 3116/57. Class 20(4) A spacer collar 1 for positioning and reinforcing members in concrete, preferably of concrete or cementitious material, is split at 2, the parts being held together by a spring 5. The joint at 2 is flared at 4 to provide a lead-in for a reinforcing rod to pass into a central hole 3 when the collar is thrust laterally on the rod, the spring 5 allowing the collar parts to open and close on the rod. The spring 5 is C-shaped and located in a groove 6 having shoulders 7 which prevent the spring from turning and obstructing the lead-in 4. In modifications, the spring ends may enter small holes or just frictionally grip the collar; or in Figs. 4, 5 (not shown) the spring is located in a groove in one or both side faces of the collar.
