Abstract

875,810. Discharging pleated cups from a stack. FORGROVE MACHINERY CO. Ltd. April 16, 1959 [May 9, 1958], No. 14936/58. Class 117 A slide 22 (Fig. 1) which carries a separating head 30 and a suction member 21, is reciprocated in the vertical plane by handle 25 so that the head and members together effect the separation and discharge of the innermost cup of stack 18. Thus the stack 18 of pleated cups is contained in cavity 16 formed in foamed plastic layer 14 carried by a second slide 11 which may be displaced rightwards by handle 12. Head 30 is rotated at 33 by a motor carried by slide 22. Suction member 21 is supplied by suction at 43 and controlled manually at 44. The sequence of operations is as follows:- the operator depresses handle 25 to lower head 30 into the stack so that the rotation of the head frees the innermost cup. The operator then elevates handle 25 to raise head 30 and displaces stack 18 to the right so that, when he again depresses handle 25, the suction member 21 grips the freed inner cup for subsequent removal as in Fig. 1. Alternatively, the freeing may be by means of arms 49, Fig. 10, carried by rotating spindle 31 (see Fig. 1) so that, when the arms are pressed downwards against the innermost cup, the downward movement of cam 48 causes the arms to move inwards and to pucker and thus free the innermost cup.
