Abstract

874,874. Wiper for tape for measuring contents of a tank. WHESSOE Ltd. Feb. 15, 1960 [March 6, 1959], No. 5298/60. Class 19. Wiper unit for a tape used to measure the level of liquid in a tank consists of a plug that can be secured in to seal off an opening in the top of the tank. Through the plug extends a slot through which the tape can pass into the tank. Secured to the bottom of the plug is a pair of resilient arms 7 which are provided at the lower ends with wiper blades 9 between which the tape can pass. The blades 9 are pressed against the tape when required by rollers 6 that engage the springs 7 on vertical movement of roller-supporting rods 4 extending up through aligned holes in the top and bottom of the plug. A hand grip 3 is secured to the rods in the central, hollow, apertured portion 2 of the plug.
