874,466. Bee-keepers appliances. WHEELER, K. V., and BISHOP, R. S. May 31, 1960 [June 30, 1959], No. 22351/59. Class 5(2). [Also in Group XXIII] A device for separating adjacent sections of a beehive comprises a pivoted parallelogram linkage, opposite links 1, 2 being provided with hooks 3, 4 and a link 5 being extended to form a handle 7. In use the hook 3 engages the lower section of the hive whilst the hook 4 engages the opposite side of the section above, the handle 7 being moved anticlockwise to cause the hooks 3, 4 to approach one another so causing relative movement between the two sections of the hive. A spring may be connected between diagonally opposite pivots to cause the linkage to move in a direction which brings the hooks 3, 4 towards one another.
