Abstract

874,459. Brushes. ZELLER, W. April 14, 1959 [April 14, 1958], No. 12656/59. Class 19. Paste is extruded from a cartridge 10 housed in the handle 3 of the brush 1 on rotation of a wheel 7 housed within and projecting through the sides of the handle. To an upstanding spindle 8 of the wheel is secured a draw string 13 that passes through a closely fitting aperture. in the end plug 11 of the cartridge 10 and is secured to a piston slidable within the cartridge. The cartridge is so located as it is entered into the handle by a rib 15 on the cartridge engaging in a slot in the handle that when the cartridge is fully inserted in the handle the end 5a of a tube 5 enters the discharge aperture 14 in the cartridge. The tube which is a tight fit in a bore through the body of the brush allows the paste to be discharged adjacent the tips of the bristles. A cover 16 can, by pushing an integral spigot into the tube, be positioned to protect the bristles when the brush is not required for use.
