874,046. Photographic image-transfer processes. INTERNATIONAL POLAROID CORPORATION. May 5, 1959 [May 12, 1958], No. 15398/59. Drawings to Specification. Class 98(2) An exposed silver halide emulsion layer is processed between two image-receiving layers to form reversed transfer images in both of them, the images being silver, monochrome by diffusion from a dye or dye intermediate, subtractive multicolour by use of an emulsion layer comprising a plurality of light sensitive portions for the appropriate colours in the form of a screen; or additive by exposure through colour filter screens for this. Drawings (not shown) illustrate these features, there being a container for the processing fluid usually adjacent to the emulsion layer surrounded by the image-receiving layers and supports for these, one of which may be opaque. Separation after exposure and processing, usually with removal of the emulsion layer from the receiving layer on which it was originally coated reveals the images, and numerous variations and operational procedures are described. Six examples concern silver images production and two are directed to monochrome in cyan and yellow respectively, but none of the examples make direct reference to the processing fluid container; thus in Example 1 which follows a description of a silver and silica containing image-receiving layer and a transferdeveloper solution, a wax and silica containing stripping layer is applied to a receiving element and overcoated with a silver iodobromide emulsion, exposed and processed in superposition with another receiving element for two minutes, when separation reveals the two images, that from the backward diffusion having slightly less density than the other one.
