Abstract
873,970. Waveguide filters. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO. Ltd. May 24, 1960 [Dec. 18, 1959], No. 43067/59. Class 40(8) A waveguide band-pass filter consists of a number of resonant cavities C defined by inductive posts 3 and coupled by quarter-wave sections having compensating posts 4. The posts 3, 4 may be on the axis of the waveguide or may be off-set. Transverse rows of posts may replace single posts. The compensating posts 4 are situated half-way along the coupling sections and serve to steepen the sides of the band-pass characteristic. The cavities may be tuned by means of ganged plungers 5 of metallic or dielectric material. Opposite each plunger 5 is a metallic or dielectric insert 6 which are adjusted to line-up the cavities and then locked in position.
