[Also in Groups XXVI and XXXIII] A gear-box for driving accessories in aircraft comprises, for supporting the accessories and the transmission means for driving the latter, a rigid framework outside which the gearing of the transmission means are located, the space occupied by the transmission means being closed by light closing means which are removably fixed on the framework, so as to constitute, with said framework, a substantially closed compartment, said closing means forming a cover-plate or cover-plates. The framework comprises two sleeves 2, 3 connected by a transverse wall 4, the sleeves respectively having flanges 5, 6 to which accessories A and B are secured by collars 12 and 13. One set of bearings 13, 14 and 15 are carried by the end wall of the framework and a further set 17, 18 and 19 are carried by a separate housing secured to the framework by screws 21. The accessories A and B are driven respectively through torque limiters 29 and 30 from an external drive-shaft 25 by means of a transmission comprising gearing 24, 22 and 23 located outside the framework and enclosed by a light cover 31 secured by screws at its periphery to the framework and provided with a seal at bearing 19. All other bearings are sealed and the space between cover 31 and the housing may be used as an oil reservoir.
