Abstract

873,130. Air filters. DAVIS INDUSTRIAL EQUIPMENT CO. Ltd. Nov. 11, 1957 [Jan. 4,1957], No. 503/57. Class 8(2). An air filter comprises a sheet 4 of foamed synthetic plastic material supported zig-zag fashion by spaced parallel rods 2 secured to opposite ends of a closed-sided open-ended frame 1 of channel section 5. The frame which is of metal or plastic material is detachably secured to within a conduit (not shown), and is dipped in a bath of detergent to effect cleaning. Accumulation of electrostatic charges generated by passage of dust-laden air through the filter sheet may be diminished by earthing the frame and by metallizing the outer surfaces of the sheet. Conversely the charges may be enhanced by heating the dustladen air prior to its entry into the filter.
