Abstract

873,040. Fluid actuation of switches. UNITED - CARR FASTENER CORPORATION. Aug. 19, 1959 [Sept. 8, 1958], No. 28417/59. Class 38 (5). [Also in Group XXVIII] A switch comprises an insulating housing whose upper surface carries fixed contacts 30, 32 housed in an airtight compartment and whose base 22 is secured to a panel 14 having an aperture 36 concentric with an insulating bushing 38 normally supporting a freely-movable metal disc 40. A hose connection is made at 24 to the discharge side of the filter of an air conditioner, so that if the filter becomes clogged the pressure in space 34 falls below atmospheric pressure, which thereupon lifts the disc 40 to bridge contacts 30, 32 and actuate an indicator secured to an adjacent part of panel 14, Fig. 1 (not shown). In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown) the disc is pivoted to one of the fixed contacts.
