Abstract

The invention comprises bases of the general formula <FORM:0872943/IV (b)/1> wherein NR2 represents a C2-8 dialkylamino or a piperidino, pyrrolidino or morpholino radical, R1 and R2 represent C1-4 alkyl radicals or hydrogen atoms, R3 represents a hydrogen atom, a C3-5 hydroxyalkyl radical or its ester, or a C2-5 acyl radical, and Ar represents a phenyl radical optionally substituted with C1-4 alkyl or alkoxy radicals or halogen atoms, or Ar2 represents an o-biphenylene radical) and their acid addition and quaternary ammonium salts, and pharmaceutical preparations containing them (see Group VI) and the preparation of the bases by the processes of the examples, which may be summarized as: reacting a diarylddiazomethane Ar2CN2 with an unsaturated carbonyl compound of the general formula <FORM:0872943/IV (b)/2> wherein COZ and Z1 represent groups subsequently converted to CH2NR2 and R3 respectively, or Z1 may also represent hydrogen. Intermediates formed in various embodiments of this process are exemplified by the following formulae:- <FORM:0872943/IV (b)/3> <FORM:0872943/IV (b)/4> Reference is also made to the formation of R3=COCH3 by oxidation of R3=CHOH.CH3.ALSO:Pharmaceutical preparations, useful for the treatment of Parkinsonism or as spasmolytics or analgesics, contain one or more cyclopropane derivatives of the general formula <FORM:0872943/VI/1> or an acid addition salt (e.g. hydrochloride) or quaternary ammonium salt (e.g. methiodide) thereof. They may take the form of injectable solutions or tablets.
