872,613. Milling-cutters; casting composite articles. BROWN INDUSTRIES Ltd., DAVID. Feb. 3, 1960 [Feb. 4, 1959], No. 3891/59. Classes 83 (1) and 83 (3). [Also in Group XXV] A milling-cutter comprises a series of blades 14, which may be toothed for gear bobbing, located in slots in a body 10 and held therein by keys 18 applied in a molten state. The keys are of a metal alloy which expands as it cools, and each engages in mating semi-circular recesses 16, 17 in each blade and the opposing face of its slot. Each blade may be fixed by a key at each end, and additionally by flanged end caps 19 engaging over projections 15 at the ends of the blades. These projections mate with a reduced diameter boss 13 at each end of the body. The sides 12 of the slots are radial and the slots may be helically arranged.
