Abstract

856,680. Turbine blades. DAIMLERBENZ A.G. Dec. 31, 1958 [Jan. 14, 1958], No. 42215/58. Class 110 (3). In a blade for a gas turbine or like rotary machine which is exposed to high temperatures, a blade body 3 of ceramic material has one or more recesses, cavities or the like into which, or in each of which, a metallic insert or core fits closely so as to support and strengthen the body, as shown in Fig. 1. The insert is of highly heatresistant steel and has a section which is an arc of a circle. The ceramic part of the body may be in one piece or laminated, the lamination 4 lying either transverse to the length of the blade as in Fig. 2, or along the length of the blade.
