Abstract

872,477. Clothes hangers. GILLIES, LADY M. E. Aug. 4, 1959 [Aug. 11, 1958], No. 25755/58. Class 52(5). A clothes hanger comprises a bar 10 for carrying trousers, a supporting hook from which the bar 10 is supported by at least one of its ends so that the bar is horizontal when in use and a coat hanger 14 secured to and dependent from the bar 10 the two coat hanging portions 14a, 14b being arranged in known manner at an obtuse angle so that their ends are disposed out of a plane containing the bar 10. The clothes hanger may be made of plastic, wood or wire. As shown in Fig. 1, the hook is secured to one end of a laterally extending supporting bar 11 the other end of which is rigidly secured to the trouser bar 10. In a modification the ends of the bar 10 are interconnected by a loop of wire provided with a central supporting hook. To prevent the trousers slipping off the bar 10 a slip resistant material such as rubber is inserted in a groove 13 of the bar 10. To enable a skirt to be suspended from the hanger, notches, hooks or projections are provided on the undersides of the free ends of the coat hanger 14. An additional trouser bar may be arranged to extend between the free ends of the coat hanger 14. The connection of the bars 10, 11 is reinforced by a tongue piece 12.
