Abstract
871,870. Hopper feed. ILLINOIS TOOL WORKS. Feb. 21, 1958, No. 5753/58. Class 78 (1). Washers from hopper 68 are fed gradually to hopper 20 whence they are fed singly to a nut- and-washer assembly device. Thus, washers are fed in quantity by hand into fixed subsidiary hopper 68 up to the level shown and are fed therefrom through outlet 80 into the bottom corner of fixed main hopper 20 by rotating disc 74, which carries thereon ejecting finger 82. From hopper 20 the washers are fed, discharged singly by rotating disc 32 in the pockets 52 thereof to assembly turret 14 (not shown), the disc 32 being driven from motor 46 (not shown) through worm 42. The washers in hopper 20 are agitated by rotating flexible arms 58, shaft 64 carrying and driving both arms 58 and disc 74 and being driven in turn by the said motor 46. Preferably arms 58 rotate in counterdirection to disc 32. Shield 92 is transparent for visibility purposes.
