Abstract
871,555. Rotary pumps. JOY MANUFACTURING CO. June 19, 1959 [July 10, 1958], No. 21082/59. Class 110 (2). A control for two rotary compressors of the outwardly-sliding vane-type arranged in series in a common casing 1 and adapted to be continuously driven by a motor 7 in order to supply a receiver 20 comprises a control-valve 100 having associated valves 50, 52 interconnected as shown, the arrangement being such that when the interstage compressor pressure at 10 drops or rises the valve 100 is respectively operated to isolate the receiver from the compressor or to interconnect same. The inlet valve of the compressor is adapted to be closed when the pressure in the receiver is not replenished whereby the interstage chamber 10 is evacuated to unload the valve 100 and close the discharge lines B, H from the receiver, the valve 50 being actuated by the valve 100 to interconnect lines E, F whereby the discharge side of the compressor is vented to atmosphere by way of a valve 38. When the demand for air at 20 increases the outlet valve 16 of the compressor is opened and the pressure build up at 10 operates the valve 100 to disconnect line F from E and line C from A, whilst lines B-A and lines H-G are respectively interconnected to one another. An oil pump 28 is provided for lubricating and injecting oil into the compressor. A thermal by-pass valve 24 controls an alternative path for the heated oil and is connected to a filter 32 and a heat-absorber 34.
