Abstract
871,415. Linear particle accelerators. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. April 30, 1959 [May 5, 1958], No. 14745/59. Class 39(1). In a linear particle accelerator having two series of drift tubes disposed along the axis of a resonant cavity 6, Fig. 3, the drift tubes 1, 2 are alternately connected together by two indented plate members 7, 8 which lie along the generatrixes of the cavity between which there is the greatest "tension" when the device operates in the H 111 mode. If the device operates in the H 211 mode then four indented plate members 10-13, Fig. 4, are provided and arranged as shown. The plates also act as supports to the drift tubes. High frequency energy is provided by the generator 3.
