Abstract

870,586. Retractive switches; mechanical switches without quick action. BENDIX CORPORATION. May 21, 1959, No. 17349/59. Class 38 (5). [Also in Group XXXV] A combined ignition, starting and choke control switch has a rotor 16 carrying contacts 32, 34, 35 co-operating with contacts on a base 14, the contacts 32, 34 being in permanent engagement with a ring contact 50. When moved from the " off " position to the " run " or " ignition " position, contact 32 is moved to engage connected contacts 54, 55 and contact 35 is opposite a contact 61. In the " start " position, the contact 32 engages contact 59 and contact 34 engages contacts 54, 55, with contact 35 opposite 62 connected to 61. The contact pressure springs 40, 70 normally urge the rotor to the right, Fig. 1, but in the " run " or " start " position it can be moved to the left to engage contact 35 with contacts 50 and 61 or 62 to complete the choke circuit. The rotor is located in the " run " and " start " positions by a leaf spring 80 which co-operates with notches 85, 86 in the rotor, which is movable from the " run " to the " start " position against the action of a retractive spring 75 which overcomes the locating spring 80.
