[Also in Group XV] An electric model railway control device comprises a mounting for a switch and/or speedcontrolling device, the mounting including at least one pair of contacts which are so spaced and shaped as to engage the terminals of a battery or accumulator, one contact to the positive terminal and the other to the negative. A housing 1 of plastic has integral side plates 1A, 1B each having three metal eyelets 2 adapted to receive the shanks of battery terminals 2A. Contact strips 3 are secured to the plates by the eyelets 2 and by further eyelets 3B, and contacts formed by depressions in a pair of springs 7 are arranged on a switch lever 6 for wiping contact with the eyelets 3B. The spring contacts may also engage eyelets 3C, 3D which are connected to a terminal 4A and one lead of a rheostat 5 respectively; depressions 5B are also engageable by the spring contacts and the rheostat is controlled by a knob. The switch lever 6 has a projection 6C which serves as an indicator and which engages stops 6D formed on the housing. Reversal of the polarity at the terminals 4, 4A results from movement of the switch lever from one " stop " position to the other, and with the lever in the central position, i.e. when the spring contacts engage in the depressions 5B, no connection is made from the two parallel-connected batteries 2, 2C to the terminals 4, 4A. Use is made of the central eyelets 2 when single battery working is required. The rheostat and its casing may be omitted, the contacts springs then being mounted on a contact knob. The device may also be used with a transformer-rectifier provided with suitably spaced terminals.
