868,290. Magnetic record heads. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. July 25, 1957 [July 28, 1956], No. 23599/57. Class 40 (2). [Also in Group XXXV] A magnetic record head has pole shoes 9, 10 of anisotropic magnetic material having permeability in direction x greater than in the perpendicular direction y so that leakage flux is minimized. The pole shoes are preferably tube segments and are formed from ferrite material formed from oxides of trivalent iron, one or more of the oxides of Ba, St or Pb, and an oxide of a bivalent metal and prepared as disclosed in Specification 822,097 (see Group XXXV).
