Abstract
868,190. Railway rail couplings. GREENWOOD, P. Dec. 29. 1959 [Jan. 2, 1959], No. 44123/59. Class 104 (2). Adjacent ends of railway rails 11 are coupled together by a rigid metal-sleeve 12 shaped to be a sliding fit on the bottom flanges 14 of the rails 11 so as to cover their bottom surface 13 and to extend at 15 halfway from the flange edges to the rail webs 16 and having spiked projections 17 extending downwardly from the bottom thereof. The sleeve is also provided with a dimple 18 which extends upwardly between the adjacent ends of the rails 11.
