Abstract

867,435. Valve or transistor sawtooth circuits; cathode-ray tube circuits. MULLARD Ltd. Aug. 18, 1959, No. 28202/59. Classes 40(6) and 40(7) In a line time base deflection circuit for a cathode-ray tube, the deflection coils are coupled to an output valve or transistor via an auto transformer having two windings carrying direct current in opposite directions, so as to minimise saturation of the core, the direct current also flowing through the deflection coils to provide centering. As shown, the direct component of the anode current of valve V2 flows via winding 6-5, the efficiency diode V1, winding 1-3, a choke L3a and the deflection coils Lya. H.T. boost is provided by capacitor C2. Capacitor C3a distorts the wave form to permit the use of a 110 degrees flat screen cathode-ray tube. Fig. 4 (not shown) relates to an arrangement in which L3a, C3a are omitted and capacitor Cl is connected either to the top of winding 1-3 or to a tapping in the winding. Fig. 1 (not shown) relates to a known arrangement in which a choke is connected between point 3 and the H.T. line, whilst the deflection coils are connected in series with a capacitor across part of winding 1-3.
