Abstract
867,109. Mine cage safety catch gear. KNIGHT, D. July 9, 1959, No. 23551/59. Class 78 (3). Safety catch gear for retaining either of a pair of oppositely-moving mine cages A, B in the event of either of the hoisting ropes 14 breaking, comprises a pulley 6 and a brake drum 5 secured to a shaft 10 supported by a frame 2 which is guided for vertical movemerit in a frame 1, a pair of leaf-springs 7 which normally retain the frame 2 in an upper position, a cable 15 connected to both cages and passing over pulley 6, and a brake (not shown), which is applied to drum 5 if frame 2 is moved downwards by cable 15 consequent upon one of cables 14 breaking.
