Abstract

865,999. Feeding sheets. INDUSTRIEWERKE KARLSRUHKE A.G. April 20, 1959 [July 5, 1958], No. 13338/59. Class 100(1) In apparatus for feeding sheets, flat bags &c. in a packing or paper processing machine wherein the sheets &c. are separated sequentially from a pile and each placed between a pair of grippers mounted on conveyer chains, each gripper comprises a sleeve body 2 in which is a slidable and rotatable rod 4 carrying a gripper foot 5 which is in the shape of a sector of a circle in plan, and when the rod is allowed to retract within the sleeve, it rotates to swing the sector behind the side edge of the sheet and grip it against the base 21 of the sleeve body. The rod 4 is urged inwardly of the sleeve 2 by a spring 9, and is rotated by the engagement of fixed balls or pins 8 with helical grooves 7 in the rod or a sleeve 11 secured thereto. The two opposed grippers 1 are of the same construction, except that the gripper feet 5 are arranged to rotate in opposite directions to engage behind the side edges of the sheet.
