Abstract

865,841. Photographic cameras combined with flash lamps. INTERNATIONAL POLAROID CORPORATION. June 15, 1959 [June 23, 1958(2)], No. 20431/59. Class 98(1) [Also in Group XXXV] A photographic flash unit comprises a low voltage incandescent lamp 117 ignited from a capacitor 102 charged through a resistor from a battery, the components being mounted in a casing which supports a reflector 82, which may be of ellipsoidal, hemispherical, or parapaloidal shape, and which has a light diffusing element 86 at its apex and a light transmitter 76 such as a callimating lens or transparent planar sheet at its open end. The casing may be part of a camera or moanted on the camera by means of a foot which carries a switch and three contacts, the latter engaging with similar contacts on the camera. When the casing is attached to the camera, a synchronizing switch is connected into the circuit, and the capacitor is connected to the battery. A spring contact shunts the capacitor when the battery is removed. U.S.A. Specifications 2,662,457 and 2,812,420 are referred to.
