865,714. Making cores. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Dec. 31, 1957 [Oct. 12, 1956], No. 31191/56. Class 83 (1). A foundry-core is made by shaping, on a former, a shell or part-shell 2 of layers of glassfibre cloth impregnated with a polyester resin cured to a solid state, providing on the interor of the shell a thin film of parting-medium and a coating of ceramic material, building thereon a number of layers 4 of ceramic to the requisite strength, and finally detaching the shell. The interior of the core may be filled with a reinforcement 5, e.g. coarse-refractory bound with ethylsilicate, sodium-silicate, phosphate &c. Specification 722,816 is referred to.
