Abstract

865,124. Waveguides. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO. Ltd. Nov. 25, 1959 [July 6, 1959], No. 23116/59. Class 40(8) A waveguide, preferably rectangular and preferably filled with gas at pressures up to about 50 or 60 lbs. per square inch, and detachable flange structure comprises a rectangular flange member 6 having a central rectangular aperture front 7 of the length of which is dimensioned to provide an easy sliding fit over the guide 1 and the remainder 9 of the length of which is of slightly larger transverse dimensions, a groove 3 cut in the outer wall of the guide and preferably extending right round it, and at least one key 4, 5 made of metal strip and adapted to fit into the groove. The thickness of each strip is preferably about twice the depth of the groove. Four straight keys or 2 L-shaped keys or 2 U-shaped keys can be provided. The corners 8 of the larger dimensional length of the rectangular aperture may be cut away to accommodate the corners of the keys more easily. The flange member 6 can be provided with holes for fixing by bolts or screws to a flange on an adjacent length of guide.
