A fairlead for guiding cable 8 has two elliptical rollers 7 carried on levers 5, 5<SP>1</SP> pivoting on shaft 4 carried by brackets 3 so that the operator may adjust the rollers for differing sizes of cables by means of handle 11, the handle being locked by means 12 and the movement of the handle being transmitted by links 10, 9, 91. Additionally, the rollers are given a second element of displacement in that brackets 3 are carried by base-plate 2 pivoted to fixed plate 1 and adjustably secured thereto by lock 15.
