Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of the formula: RP(S)(OR1)(OAlkSR11) wherein R is a phenyl, chloro-substituted phenyl, or C1-C6 alkyl radical, R1 is a C1-C6 alkyl radical, R11 is a C1-C6 alkyl group, and Alk is a C2-C6 alkylene radical. They may be obtained by reacting an appropriate thionophosphonic acid ester chloride with an appropriate alkylmercapto alkanol. The reaction is preferably carried out in the presence of an acid binding agent, e.g. a tertiary amine such as pyridine, and an organic solvent e.g. benzene, toluene, acetone or chloroform may be present. Examples are given for the production of (1) C6H5P(S) (OCH2CH2SC2H5)(OCH3), (2) C6H5P(S) (OC2H5)(OCH2CH2SC2H5), (3) p.Cl.C6H4P(S) (OC2H5)(OCH2CH2SC2H5), (4) p.Cl.C6H4P(S) (OCH3)(OCH2CH2SC2H5) and (5) CH3P(S) (OC2H5)(OCH2CH2SC2H5). The products are stated to be effective pesticidal agents (see Group VI). Specification 806,148 is referred to.ALSO:A pesticidal composition comprises as active ingredient one or more thionophosphonic acid esters of the formula R.P(S)(OR1)(OAlkSR11) wherein R is a phenyl, chlorosubstituted phenyl, or alkyl radical containing 1 to 6 carbon atoms, R1 is a C1-C6 alkyl radical, R11 is a C1-C6 alkyl radical, and Alk is a C2-C6 alkylene radical (see Group IV (b)) and a solid or liquid carrier or diluent. Known insecticides and/or fertilizers may also be present. Specified diluents are talc, chalk, bentonite, clay, water (if necessary with an emulsifier e.g. benzyl hydroxy diphenyl polyglycol ether), alcohols, ketones and liquid hydrocarbons. A particularly useful active ingredient is the compound p.Cl.C6H4.P(S)(OCH2CH2SC2H5) (OCH3). Specification 806,148 is referred to.
